Global Prayer Initiative
A 100 years ago, James Frazier, an engineering honor student and gifted concert pianist, graduated from Cambridge; however, at the age of 22 he forsook all for the mission call of God. He lived among the Lisu mountain people of Chian, yet he labored without a single convert for 10 years. He became very disheartened until he began to earnestly pray. He then wrote the following to his mother back in England:
“I will not labor the point. You will see from what I am saying that I am not asking you just to give help in prayer as a sort of sideline, but I am trying to roll the main responsibility of this prayer warfare on you. I want you to take the burden of these people upon your shoulders. I want you to wrestle with God for them. “
She in turn took that letter to her Bible study class and a group of woman began to deeply pray, and within a 4 month period 600 Lisu were saved. Today in those hill villages of China there are over 300,000 Lisu Christians.
Our church has chosen to take up the mantle left behind by Frazier’s mother’s prayer group.
This is our special version of fulfilling the Acts 1:8 challenge by praying for our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth
